The short version

TurboTide has no accounts and no analytics, and your progress stays on your phone. The game shows video ads from Google AdMob: on iPhone, only when you choose to watch one to race certain courses; on Android, also a full-screen ad after a race. Google receives some information from your device to show and measure the ads, as explained below. On iPhone the game does not ask to track you. On Android, Google's ads can use your phone's advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your phone's settings. Buying the Full Game removes all ads.

Who we are

TurboTide is a racing game for iPhone and Android phones, made by Bungalow Studios LLC, an independent game studio in New York, USA. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Bungalow Studios LLC, the developer of TurboTide. "You" means the player.

What stays on your device

The game saves a few things in files on your phone so it can remember them:

This information never leaves your device. We cannot see it, and it is not sent to us or to anyone else. On Android, the game's files are also left out of Android's backups to your Google Account. If you delete the game, this information is deleted with it.

What we do not do

Ads (Google AdMob)

Some courses can be raced by watching a short video ad. Ads are shown by Google AdMob, a service run by Google LLC, and never during a race. On iPhone, ads play only when you tap to watch one. On Android, the WATCH AD button works the same way, and a full-screen ad can also play after a race, as you leave the results.

To show an ad, measure it and fight fraud, Google's software in the game sends Google information from your device, such as your IP address (which gives a rough location), the device model and system version, the app's identifier, an identifier for this app on this device, when the app opens, how you interact with the ad, and how the app and Google's software are performing (for example, crash reports). The ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience.

On iPhone, the game does not ask to track you, so Google does not get your device's advertising identifier.

On Android, Google's software also gets your phone's advertising ID, an ID that Android gives apps for ads and that you can reset or delete, and the app set ID, an ID shared only by apps from the same developer on your phone. Google can use them to measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, fight fraud and, where the law and your choices allow it, show ads based on your interests. To reset or delete your advertising ID, open your phone's Settings, then Privacy (on some phones, Security and privacy, then More privacy settings), then Ads. Once it is deleted, apps, including this game, can no longer use it. On older versions of Android, the same screen has a switch to opt out of ads personalization instead.

Google handles this information under Google's Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services. We do not receive this information.

In the UK, Switzerland and the European Economic Area (and anywhere else the law requires it), Google asks for your consent before the first ad, on iPhone and on Android. You can change your choice any time in Settings > AD PRIVACY. If you decline, Google may still show limited ads that are not personalized. The Full Game turns off all ads.

Buying the Full Game turns off all ads for good, so no ad information is sent after that.

Game Center (iPhone)

If you are signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, the game sends your Time Trial times to Game Center leaderboards, one for each course. Game Center is a service run by Apple. Your Game Center nickname and your times are shown to other players on the leaderboards. Apple handles this information under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive your Apple Account details. Game Center is optional: the game works the same without it, and you can sign out, or change what it shares, in your iPhone's Settings under Game Center.

The Android version has no online leaderboards: your times stay on your phone.

In-app purchase and codes

The game offers an optional, one-time in-app purchase, "Full Game: All Courses + No Ads", and may later offer more courses as separate packs. On iPhone, Apple processes the payment through the App Store. On Android, Google processes it through Google Play's billing system. We never see your name, payment card, Apple Account or Google Account details. Apple or Google tells the game only what has been bought, so it can open those courses, turn off ads and restore them on your other devices.

The Full Game can also be unlocked with a promotional code. On iPhone, codes are redeemed in the App Store, and Apple checks and redeems them. On Android, the game's Cheat Code screen opens Google Play's redeem page with the code filled in, and Google Play checks and redeems it. We do not learn who redeemed a code.

Apple's handling of purchases and codes is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy, and Google's by Google's Privacy Policy.

Ratings

On iPhone, now and then, after a race, the game may ask iOS to show Apple's standard "rate this app" prompt. Apple shows and handles it, and decides how often it appears. Any rating or review you leave goes to the App Store, not to us. The Android version does not ask for ratings.

Vibration, notifications and permissions

The game uses vibration (haptics) for feedback. On iPhone, if you allow notifications, it can remind you about races with local notifications that your iPhone schedules itself; nothing is sent to us or anyone else, and you can turn them off any time in Settings. The Android version does not send notifications. The game does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or your phone's location services.

On Android, the game asks for no permissions you have to approve. It uses internet and network access (for ads and Google Play), vibration and Google Play's billing, and Google's ad software adds permissions to read the advertising ID, use Android's ad services and run its own background tasks.

Children's privacy

TurboTide is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we collect none from anyone ourselves. The ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience. A parent who wants no ads at all can buy the Full Game. On iPhone, a parent can also turn off in-app purchases and the game's network access in Screen Time; on Android, Google Play's parental controls and Google Family Link can require a parent's approval for purchases.

Keeping data safe

The game sends nothing to us, so we keep no data about you: there is nothing for us to store, protect or delete. What Google's software in the game sends for ads and purchases goes over encrypted connections, and Google keeps it as long as Google's Privacy Policy says. What the game saves stays on your phone until you delete the game.

Your privacy rights

Laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give people rights to access, correct, delete or move their personal data, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We respect these rights. We do not collect, store or receive any personal data ourselves, so we hold nothing about you to access, correct, delete or move, and we sell nothing. Information sent to Google for ads is held by Google; see Google's Privacy Policy for your choices there. On iPhone, you can reset this app's identifier by deleting and reinstalling the game; on Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (see Ads above). To erase everything the game has saved, delete the app from your phone. Game Center data is held by Apple; manage it in your iPhone's Settings or at privacy.apple.com. Google Play purchases are held by Google; manage your Google data at myaccount.google.com.

If you have a question or want to confirm this, email us (see below). We will answer within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If the game changes in a way that affects privacy, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. If a future version ever collects data, this page will say so before that version is released.
